Free Gift changelog

All notable changes to slova/module-free-gift. Versions follow Semantic Versioning.

1.0.1 — 2026-10-25

Cart price rules with product conditions counted the gifts: “total quantity / amount of the items matching…” (a product with a gift plus one more item counted as three, the gift at its full value), and “if an item is found in the cart with…” was met by a gift alone. Gift lines now count for neither; subtotal and total-quantity conditions already left them out.

First release as a standalone package (in production on caruselbooks.ro since 2026 as a site module).

Per product: one free item for every item bought, rebalanced on every cart change; paid copies of the gift already in the cart become the free ones (optional); campaign switch, dates in store time, cap counted on placed orders.
Above a cart value: one extra product when the paid value reaches a threshold; dates, campaign ID and cap.
Gifts already in a cart are delivered when a campaign ends or runs out; they only stop growing.
Bundles neither give a gift nor give up copies.

Gift card under Add to Cart and “free when you buy X” on the gift’s own page, optionally also as a product section; live “Only N left” for capped campaigns.

Gifts invoiced at their value (regular or current price) with a 100% line discount on Magento’s native discount total.
Cart price rules never discount gift lines, and their subtotal / total quantity conditions don’t count gifts.
Gifts don’t count towards the free shipping threshold (optional).
The gift is recorded on the order line; admin order / invoice / credit memo, e-mails and customer account show “Gift: Free with X” and a separate gift totals row (optional) — without replacing Magento’s templates.

A gift added while the same product was already in the cart (paid) was merged into the paid line, making every copy free.
The cart threshold gift did not appear when the very first add to a new cart already reached the threshold.
Cart price rules counted gifts in subtotal conditions and discounted gift lines on top of their 100%.
